Took a weekend summer on the beach
To make all reasons dry up
Careless arranged the shells laid, set like our lazy cosmos
An empire of planned happenstance
All pushed into place by incurious
Furious foaming tessellations
Moving far from the which we came from
To where we lay to rest
Where else could find so many people alone, lying
And no position they’d rather be
These things are lost on me
Probably lost on you

And attached while taken in to you
Taken while in reverse and far off course
Beguiled and imprinted on the waves

Hung up hats on a precarious post
Arms couldn't be much more than your own
A stump of solid trunk
Designed like a totem carving, starved for what you never told them
You hold them higher than you ever showed them.
Breaker black, boxed and beaming up
Signals from the depths of the crevice
